GENYOUth equips schools with critical tools and resources to provide students with greater access to nutrition and physical activity.
- Over 40 million students now have more equitable access to healthy school meals and/or physical activity.
- 76,000 school communities are supported by GENYOUth nationwide, 68% of which are considered high-need.
Ending Student Hunger
Today, 1 in 5 children face food insecurity¹.
Nearly 30 million children rely on school meals for their daily nutrition. For many, it’s the only healthy meal they receive on some days.
Yet only half of these children benefit from school breakfast due to hurdles, including time and stigma.
GENYOUth nourishes children by helping schools remove barriers to school breakfast and grow participation. Our initiatives have provided 40 million students with greater access to school meals, and our nutrition grants have provided increased access to 6.2 billion school meals.

Increasing Access to Physical Activity
Fewer than 1 in 4 children get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity each day, and girls are at even greater risk².
Schools provide safe, equitable environments for kids to learn and play.
GENYOUth brings resources and equipment to schools, inspiring a love of physical activity and increasing access to and participation among 18 million students.

GENYOUth was incorporated as a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation on May 8, 2009 as YOUTH IMPROVED, INC. The organization has been doing business as GENYOUth since January 2011, and formally changed its registered corporate name in the District of Columbia to GENYOUth on January 15, 2020. The name change is not yet reflected in the IRS database of tax exempt organizations. All of the organization’s 990s have been filed under YOUTH IMPROVED, INC. EIN: 27-0988546
